Rita Pires

Rita F. Pires is a junior researcher at SMEA in CeFEMA where she is focused on the development of new polymeric membranes for medical devices, particularly hemodiafiltration and extracorporeal membrane blood. Dr. Pires holds a degree in Applied Chemistry - Organic chemistry profile and a master’s degree in Bioorganic Chemistry from NOVA University of Lisbon. In 2019 she finished her PhD in Bioengineering from Instituto Superior Técnico at University of Lisbon. Her research expertise is the sustainable synthesis and modification of polymeric materials (e.g., polyurea dendrimers) for numerous applications (e.g., cancer theragnostic, drug delivery, energy).
